  • Writing Challenge 2006-08 THE 12

    M’Ladies,

The time has come once again for another writing challenge!

I’ve been turning this one around in my head for over 2 weeks now, and I just can’t shake it, so I suppose we’d better just do it.

We all have little habits that we have become so accustomed to that we hardly notice them ourselves.  That does not mean, however, that someone else wouldn’t notice them.  Someone else might find them annoying, irritating, or down right deplorable!

In your best times, you probably annoy someone (as humans, it is most unfortunate that this happens, but it does!)

    Here’s the idea:

    Let’s call it “The 12″.

I came up with that number because for some unknown reason, it just stuck in my head.  The idea for this came when I was sitting in a waiting room and struck up a conversation with a lady there.  She was pleasant enough, but each time she finished a sentence, she would say “just kidding” and laugh.  Once was enough, twice was allowable, three times and I was down right irritated!

    The assignment:

List  12 habits you have that would annoy someone, somewhere at sometime.  They don’t have to be huge, quite the opposite.  They may be small mannerisms that you don’t really notice until someone else points them out.

This may take some real introspection on your part.

On each item I want you to tell us if:

Is this something you might consider changing?

If yes, why and why do you think you have this habit?

This is fairly straight forward.  I do think it might be difficult to come up with the entire 12, but I’d like you to really give it a good effort! (I just know that all of my Queens are perfect!)

    Time Frame:

You have an entire week to think about this one.  On June 26th please post this challenge on your blog.  We’ll run it for 2 days, that will give you Monday the 26th AND Tuesday the 27th to post it!

    Have fun with it!

Please put a notation on one of your entries about this challenge in time for anyone to see it and participate!

Also, as always, put a link on your blog on the day you make your entries. . . and come to this site to let me know that you’ve posted on your site so that I can leave a link to your site!

    Have fun M’Ladies!

  • Good Morning M’Ladies,

What an interesting challenge that turned out to be!  The unfortunate part is that I got my words mixed up and asked for an Epitaph instead of a Eulogy. . .ah well, the mind wanders sometimes!

A multitude of thank-you’s to all those  of you who participated!  And double thanks to those of you who took it upon yourselves to add a blurb about the challenge to your daily blogs.  I honestly appreciate your efforts.

The challenge itself didn’t seem to bring too many to the table, probably one of the more sparse challenges we’ve had.  But I realize that at this time of the year things can be hectic (myself as a prime example).  I hope this is not an indication of the challenges to come.  I would hate to think that I’m losing my touch!

Until the next challenge, stay strong, keep yourselves healthy, happy and loving life!

  • 2006-07 EPITATH

P.S.   PLEASE POST A TIDBIT ON YOUR BLOGS ABOUT THIS WRITING CHALLENGE!  IT IS MOST APPRECIATED!

    Good Day My Queens!

    Good tidings to you.

I have a new writing challenge for your consideration:

    EPITAPH:

(n 1: an inscription on a tombstone or monument in memory of the person buried there 2: a summary statement of commemoration for a dead person)

How do you wish to be remembered?

    THE CHALLENGE:

Write your epitaph from a third person point of view.

example:  “Queenie gave us many introspective writing challenges that helped us to become more self aware.”

Write as much or as little as you want, but remember to keep thinking about yourself in the third person!

    THE RULES:

This challenge will be posted on June 2nd, 3rd AND 4th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Make sure to post a link to this site or the blog ring in your post.

Come here to let me know that you’ve posted.

Be sweet to me and let everyone know that there is a new writing challenge posted!

I don’t mean for this challenge to seem morbid to you.  My main goal is to open your eyes to how you will be remembered.

I know there are many things I still want to do with my life, and I also know that no one but myself can accomplish them for me!

There is an alternate challenge!  In the event that you don’t wish to write about the above subject (or, if you would like to write IN ADDITION TO the above subject) I give you the opportunity to write about the following:

    MY VERY FIRST KISS

Give us the details (you may, of course change names or use initials).  How did it make you feel?  Was it with a b/f?  A casual date?  A near stranger?  Was it worth it?  Was it wonderful or was it awful?  Tell us!

I reiterate what I say each time “HAVE FUN!”

I pray you are up to the challenge and I will be looking forward to reading your responses!

A total of 34 entries for this writing challenge!  Out of over 90~  We also have a couple of new members!

I was surprised at how many letters were written to fathers!  Each letter that I read touched my heart in a special and different way. . . sorrow for a poor father, joy and envy for those of you who had wonderful fathers!  All of the letters were just fabulous!  I want to thank each and every one of you for participating.

It’s so hard to get the word out on these writing assignments. . . may I ask you all to let everyone know when a new one is posted?  All you have to do is to say a little something on your site one day.  Just to help me get the word out.

I know that this is a super busy time of year.  Everyone is out in the beautiful Spring weather (I know, I’ve been so busy myself!)  It’s all right if you don’t want to participate in  all of these writing challenges, but I do hope that you will choose some here and there!

Thank you once again for your continued memberships!

Pleasant days and restful nights to you all!~Kween

  • Writing Challenge 2006-6 THE LETTER

    M’Lord and M’Ladies!

I am fully aware that you have all been “chomping at the bit” for a new writing challenge.  And so, I present to you:

    THE LETTER

THE LETTER is to be written to someone you love, admire, are angered with, are sad about, or that you have a grievance with.  Whether current or in your past, I leave that decision up to you.

As you give this consideration, try to recall all of the feelings that possess you when you think about this person.

    EXAMPLE:

If I were to write to my Mother I might say:

    Dear Sweet Mom;

I miss you more than I can ever tell you.  If a heart can break in to two pieces, then mine has lost that second half to you…..

    with all my love,

    your daughter.

    OR:

    Dear Emily,

I still don’t understand why you were so mean and cruel to me when we were 14.  What did I ever do to you?  I get so angry every time I remember exactly what you did to me, the embarrassment. . . . .

still angry after all these years

    Jane

Do you get the idea?  You can go back as far as you want.  What I’m trying to tell you is that I want you to write a letter to the person who left a large  impression on you emotionally.  Please give details if you can, tap into those emotions you were feeling at the time.  Give your new perspective now that you’re past the pain or the joy.

    You have one week

We will post ON OUR OWN BLOGS on MONDAY, MAY 1.

Make sure to let me know on MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, and I will post the link to your sites here.  Try to visit everyone’s sites to leave your comments.

I hope you enjoy this assignment!

    Sweet days and plesant nights~Kween

P.S. Ms_BeautyExpert.  I liked your idea, and perhaps I will use it at another time.  I’ve had this thought in my head for about a week and a half now and I just like the idea of reading everyone’s letters.  Please don’t ever think that I don’t take your ideas under consideration!  In fact, I put them all in a folder on my computer entitled “Kween of the Queen blog ideas”.  Hugs to you!

  • M’Lord and M’Ladies,

I am Sorry I have not given you the assignment yet.  With Easter but a few days away, I decided to wait until the holiday has passed before I give out any assignment.

I had a wonderful thought driving home from taking my daughter to  school this morning and will try to determine as to whether or not it will make a good challenge here (I think it will).

Please have a Glorious Easter Celebration.

My thoughts are with you and your families this week.

    With love and good wishes,

    Kween
