  • Writing challenge 2007-3

    MiLadies:

Blessings to you all and a very happy March!

As I approach my 5th decade of life later this year, I stumbled upon a good question today.

HAVE YOU LIVED THE LIFE YOU WANTED TO LIVE?

Tell us about what you feel that you have accomplished.  What dreams did you have as a child that you’ve fulfilled?   If not, what more do you want to accomplish and what is it you need in order to accomplish it?  When you are aged and a young person asks you this question, what do you hope your response will be?

If you are very young (teens, twenties, early thirties), what accomplishments are you working towards or what dreams do you hope to accomplish before your 40′s?

TIME FRAME:  Today is March 1st.  You have until March 12th to finish this challenge.  We will post for 2 days. . .MONDAY MARCH 12TH AND TUESDAY MARCH 13TH.

This is a more serious question than many I have posed before, so really think about this one and give us a sincere response.

Come back here to let me know that you have posted  or leave a link.

Read as many as you are able to.

Put on your thinking caps MiLadies

  • MiLadies:

That was a fun challenge!  In my enthusisam, I decided to compile a list of the 5 top movies from everyone’s list.    What follows are those five:

    1.  Titanic

    2.  City of Angles

    3.  The Notebook

    4.  Sleepless in Seattle

    5.  Pretty Woman

Here are the “numbers”.  This would be the number of individual lists these wonderful movies appeared on:

    Titanic – 8

    City of Angles – 8

    The Notebook – 7

    Sleepless in Seattle- 7

    Pretty Woman- 6

As I went through the lists, I found many movies that I had either forgotten about, or had never seen.  I have a few that I had considered and changed on my original list. . .I think they bear mention here.  If you haven’t seen these, give them a chance. .

    I considered the following:

    First_knight

First Knight starring Sean Connery and Richard Gere. . . A Camelot/King Arthur/Guienivere/Lancelot tale that I can’t help but watch everytime it’s on.

    10_Things_I_Hate_About_You

10 Things I Hate About You:  Heath Ledger in on of his early carreer films. . He has dark hair in this one!  It’s based on The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespere. . .an engaging rendition done with a modern teen spin

    edward-scissorhands.jpg

Edward Sicssorhands with Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. . .a truely engaging story of fantasy that might leave you wondering what you just watched. . . odd/off kilter and at times just downright strange, but a love story nonetheless.

    Ever-After

EverAfter with Drew Barrymore. . . “Just breathe”  I always remember this line from the movie!  She is wonderful in this slightly slanted Cinderella Story. . .I loved it!

    Braveheart

Braveheart directed by and starring Mel Gibson.  This is a fictional account of the life of Sir William Wallace. If there were ever a love story between a man and a woman, this one is it!  It extends to love of country and freedom.  Beautifully filmed and well worth the long viewing time.

    Finding%20Neverland.jpg

Finding Neverland another Johnny Depp film.  This is the story of James M. Barrie and his inspiration for his play “PeterPann”.  Kate Winslet plays opposite as a widow with 4 adventrous boys.  This is a magic, enchanting, and tragic movie and the relationships between Barrie and the boys is so special. . .I guarentee you’ll love this movie!

    StoryUs.gif

The Story of Us.  (On of my back burner rfavorites) Here’s a movie that is current and so touching. With all the divorces today, this really strikes a cord.  Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer are perfect as lovers and rivals. . . if you haven’t seen this movie, please do, you won’t be disappointed!

    s1317928.jpg

And, just for fun (my fun!)  Check out a Bruce Willis movie entitled “The Fifth Element”

This futuristic sci-fi action/adventure is the very epitome of a love story, told in the extreme and you’ll know what I’m talking about by the end of this exciting, zaney film!

    Lethal_Weapon.jpg

For REAL Love. . . I alwauys go with the 4 Lethal Weapon movies!  No kidding.  If there were ever a love story that reflects friendship. . .these are the ones!  Besides, I still love Mel!  Or perhaps it’s Martin Riggs that has really captured my heart!

    I hope you’ll consider these suggestions. . .

I  wish you all much love and happiness this Valentines Day!

  • First challenge of the Year! 2007-01

    MiLords and MiLadies

Greetings for the New Year!  I trust that you are all making the best of this new beginning!

An inspiration has come my way today!  I was browsing MiLady Tynee’s site and couldn’t help but giggle and smile!

You must read LADY TYNEE’S entry before you contemplate the following challenge!

    I will call this challenge:

    ME, IN A NUTSHELL

    The object:

Write a synopsis of YOU!  If you were to go on the internet and decide to look over the dating sites there, what would you put in your profile?

Never mind that most of us are married!  So am I!  But just imagine for a moment that you aren’t, and are looking.  What would you say about yourself?  Your interests?  A description of yourself ?  Would you be brutally honest?  Or playfully vague?  Go ahead and write whatever you want!  There are absolutely no boundaries for this challenge, except that I am requesting that you post a picture (not necessarily of yourself either!)  Make it totally serious, make it side splittingly funny, make it YOUR OWN!

    TIME FRAME:

Because this is the first assignment of the year, I’m going to give you 10 days.  That means that I will expect you all to post yours on the following days MONDAY, JANUARY 22 and TUESDAY JANUARY 23.  *I would hurry this along, but one week from today is my daughters 19th birthday*

Remember to read the module to the left entitled “How this BR works” for all the details. . .and don’t forget to come back here to LET ME KNOW THAT YOU HAVE POSTED!  Remember, I want to put a link to your sites!

I want you to have a lot of fun with this one!  It’s up to you my Royal subjects!
