I am so overwhelmed from the number of you who took the first challenge of the year!  We had a whopping 39 responses and gathered up 10 new members!  What a great way to start out this new year!  Many thanks to all who participated and a special thank you to aboutamom who contributed the idea without her knowledge and then decided to become a member!

I only hope that we can continue on with the great responses! 

I have had a couple of good ideas for new challenges and I’ve had some great input from a couple of our members.  I’ve decided to give you a “twofer” this time.  I don’t do it often, but I just can’t decide!  I will leave the decision up to each individual.  You can choose between them, or take the ultimate writing challenge and complete both!

Remember to let me know you’ve posted so I can link to you and to comment and star as many entries as you can. . . we all love comments!   Also, (and yes, I forgot to put this up earlier!). . .PLEASE LINK TO EITHER THIS SITE OR THE BLOG RING!  This is important in order to attract new members!  Thak you!   This challenge runs through the end of January and you may start right now!  But first, the challenges!

SIMPLE PLEASURES

  This challenge comes to us via a very wonderful lady, myseniormoments.  She has started a new path in her life.  Her goal is all about simple pleasures.  Here is her question:

What are the simple pleasures that make your day complete? The purring of a kitten? The smell of coffee?  Perhaps it’s making a special meal for your family.  Remember to keep it warm and homey.  These are SIMPLE pleasures!

Our second challenge is my own idea.  The mind was wandering one afternoon and it latched on to  this idea.

I REMEMBER WHEN. . .

Now that I’m half a century old, I thought it would be fun to go back a bit in time!  It could be a wonderful history lesson for our younger members!  I would like for everyone to try this though!  Let’s say it’s for posterity!  Here’s a sample:

I remember when penny candy really only cost a penny!

Whatever comes into your head, however many you can recall.  Whatever makes you feel good!  Use your own unique style.  Most of all, have fun!

MiLords and MiLadies!!!

Happy New Year!  I trust that each and everyone of you made the best of your holidays. . .and my prayers go out to those of you who encountered circumstances that were beyond your control and did the best you could with what challenges you were given.  Let’s give a silent prayer for those who lost loved ones, those who are facing astronomical obstacles to overcome, and a moment of silence for those who have left us too soon.

Let’s have confidence that this year will be a better year!

Our first challenge of the year is here!  I’d like to give credit to aboutamom for this challenge.  I caught it as I was reading and commenting on Featured Grown-up’s last challenge!  I hope she doesn’t mind that I use it for our little group here!

The Challenge:

Thank you for your participation during this hectic time of year.  We got 24 entries for our Letters to Santa. . . but tsk, tsk. . . on my new site Jeri_Dee, there were only 7 comments!  We’re supposed to comment folks!  That’s what makes this blog ring work!  Here is your new challenge!

I recorded Mitch Albom’s “For One More Day” last week and watched it the next day.  It is a story of a son who gets to spend one more day with his deceased mother.  It put me in a curious mood.  Who would you want to spend one more day with?  Why?  What questions would you want answered and what would you want to tell that person?  Would you want to do anything special?  Go anywhere dear to both of you?  Tell us about it.  How about we just use the title from the book/movie?  We’ll call this challenge:

 ONE MORE DAY

Your new challenge is one that I do each year.    I shall give it a quick going over.

THREE LITTLE THANKFULS ’07

Each year I ask you to list the three little things that you are thankful for.  NOT THE BIG THINGS. . . .NOT YOUR FAMILY, NOT YOUR CHILDREN, NOT YOUR CAR OR YOUR HOUSE, but the 3 small things that you never pay too much attention to, but when you think about it, you really wouldn’t want to do without them!  For instance, because of a recent black out from storms in this area, I was reminded of how much I depend on electricity!  When it’s out, why, what does one do but chores?  And those having nothing to do with electricity either!  Or a microwave oven that goes out. . . .can you live without one now?  But please don’t think you have to stick with appliances. . .. some of you have withdrawals when you run out of hairspray (come on, some of you do!)

I apologize for my absence here.  I gave myself a week off so that I may concentrate all of my efforts on this next challenge.

Are you feeling “Halloweenie” yet?  Well, make it so my friends, for this is the time of year for  KOFFEEKWEEN’s HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA 4!

This will be the 4th consecutive year that I’ve hosted this fun event!  I started it as KoffeeKween, but switched it over to this blog ring when I started it.

Welcome to the 17th writing challenge of 2007!

Our last challenge went over like a lead balloon!  In fact, I’m wondering where everyone is?  at any rate, one of our Ladies submitted an idea for this challenge.  Princessgeoffrey was kind enough to share the following idea:

“I had an idea that you might be able to use as a writing challenge: everyone’s Dave Barry-esque “I swear I am not making this up” story. The story that we tell of some strange experience we had that needs absolutely no embellishment because it’s insane enough all on its own, such as the story of how I had to be the designated driver on my 21st birthday.”
