I want to thank everyone who participated in the last challenge.  What wonderful entries I was privileged to read!  Although the turnout was relatively small, the entries themselves were fantastic!  I must mention one in particular. uber-ghey’s entry was not open for comments, and understandably so.  It was an intense and somewhat disturbing entry, but so powerful!  Of all the entries, yours was the one that touched me the most.  It is impossible for me to imagine what you have gone through in your young life, but know that my heart goes out to you and yes, I still believe that you are very brave!

And now, on with the new challenge!

You have all been so forthcoming and honest with these last few challenges.  I have asked you to dig deep into yourselves to hopefully learn something new or different about yourselves.  This time around, I’m asking you to get back to basics and just have some fantasy fun!

We’ll call this challenge

SUPER HERO

The challenge:

Imagine waking up one morning and much to your surprise you have developed a power that no one else has?  What would you do with this power?  Would you share it with your family, your community, the world?  Would you feel obligated, or would you simply keep it to yourself?  How would you use it?  For good?  For evil, for the betterment of mankind?

How would you live your life?  Any ideas for names for who you have become?  Strategies for living your new life?  Tell us!

And now, here are your super powers.  You will notice that they are listed according to the alphabet. . . you MUST use your designated superpower!  And you MUST use the letter that YOUR XANGA NAME starts with!  That is the hardest part of the challenge!  Please follow the rules!

A through L

Your power is the ability to learn anything by only seeing it once!  Imagine being able to glance at an instruction manual  or the television for only a moment and then being able to take apart and reassemble a car engine!  Just think of the possibilities!

M through S

You have the power to transmutate!    You can become ANY shape and or person/animal/item that you think about!  Wow!

T through Z

Your power is telekinesis!  You can move things with your mind!  With a mere thought you can finally retrieve that t.v. remote control you keep misplacing!

A new challenge is afoot!  Put on your imagination caps and follow me through a world that you have not yet explored!

This challenge comes from an interesting suggestion from our sweet sister silkenbutterfly.  Her idea was one that I had never thought of before and I found it an interesting challenge.  Here is her idea:

“Pretend we’re someone else in our life- a mom or spouse or child- and write a letter to ourselves pretending to be them.”

This means stepping into someone else’s mind and emotions about YOU!  Let’s expand this to include friends and people we work with.  We’ll call it

SOMEONE ELSE’S SHOES

THE PARAMETERS

Do your best to “become” this other person….what is their perception of you?  Do they love you?  Hate you?  Do you irritate them or are they wild about you?  Become this other person as much as possible and give us the details. . .who they are, what they are to you and how they perceive you or feel about you.  Remember, you can use poetry, write a letter, use pictures, draw, whatever is easiest for you to do!

Thank You’s go out to everyone who participated in the Challenge 2008-08!  Wow!  What a turn out!  I’d also like to welcome all of the new members the blog ring received!  I can only hope that this new challenge will have as large a response as the last one.  This was once again suggested by REDPOPPY1.  She’s one of my long time friends here on Xanga and she always has excellent ideas! MY REALITY TELEVISION PARTNER

Imagine you have been selected for a reality television show i.e. Big Brother, Survivor, et all.  You have to choose someone to share this experience with,  your own partner.  Who would you choose?  Why?

NOT YOUR BEST FRIEND or a relative, but someone who has intrigued you, who you would like to get to know better.  Tell us why this person intrigues you, the motivation behind this choice.  They could be your local tradesperson, your dentist, the chemist, even take it so far as to choose a celebrity if you like….get my idea? I thought it could be interesting as a follow up to this present challenge, revealing yourself, revealing what makes you want to know about other people, and why.  Why them?

DEFINE WHO YOU ARE

Here are your parameters:

This DOES NOT mean what you do for a living, or who you are in your family.  I don’t want you to write about being a Father or Mother or Daughter or Son.  In fact, leave your family and your job out of this entirely.  I want you to tell us what makes YOU tick.  How do you see yourself?  Are you talented?  Frustrated?  Happy?  When you think about this definition, think about YOURSELF.  What makes you who you are?  What dreams do you think about?  What does it take to let you feel that you are worthy or good or respected?  Who are you?  Make this your own.  You can write or post pictures or put up your art or poetry, whatever you like!  We love seeing it!

Another great response to the last challenge!  And I’d also like to wish a warm welcome to our little Court to those new members from the last two challenges!  May your days here be happy and bright!

I have been vacillating again.  Giving many hours of thought on a daily basis as to what our new challenge should be.  It was getting down to the wire, and I still felt the pressure of not having a decent challenge for you.  One stuck in my head last night, but I was unsure of it.  In that panic stricken state, I went to my only other source of ideas close at hand, my daughter.  The idea she came up with is a good one and I like it very much, but it in the interim I came up with an idea myself.  What I’ve decided to do is to post all of these ideas and leave them all up for the entire month.  You can do them all in one shot if you prefer, or do one for this 2 week period and another for the last two weeks of the month.  I do ask that you do at least 2 of these challenges!

Are you lucky?  In love?  Financially?  Just how does your luck run?  Great?  Bad?  Do we make our own luck or does fate have a hand in it?  Tell us what you think about “LUCK”.

Tell us about the best pet you ever had. . . whether as a kid or an adult. Do you have a great pet story?  Precious pet pictures?  We’d like to see them!

When do you give yourself a good old fashioned “Atta Boy” (Girl)?  What makes you feel like you’ve done something good?

Thank you for the fantastic turnout on the last challenge.  I was overwhelmed once again.  However, I noticed that many of you are still not commenting to all of the bloggers who took so much time and energy to participate!  I couldn’t post until the third day, and I only got 19 comments. . . .just look at how many entered!  Tsk!
On with the new challenge:

Our lives in this society depend upon boundaries and laws.  Without them, society breaks down and begins to revert back to a savage state.  Because we want to continue as citizens of this planet, we have each learned how to survive not only for ourselves, but as part of a greater whole. Although you can’t know  exactly what you might do if pushed to dire circumstances, you do know what you do in your every day existence.  This said, my question to you is this:

What are your personal laws and boundaries?  What will you absolutely NOT do?  What are some of the things that you do on a constant basis to help make our society a decent place to live, love and thrive? 
Example:  I never pick my nose in public, it’s just something I wouldn’t do!  But I do always say please and thank you even to the waiters and waitresses I come in contact with.
